Long Service Breast Badges

5 years service (Tramways title).

< Awarded to Mrs Sarah Boyd (b,1910 - d,1994), on completion of 10 years service with GCT.

Before joining GCT in 1945, Mrs Boyd was working at the Rolls Royce factory in Hillington, which was then manufacturing aircraft engines for the war effort. After the factory suffered damage in a bombing raid, she decided to join GCT, and was assigned to Govan Depot as a tram car conductoress. She later transferred on to the buses, and was paired with driver, Eddie Wilkie, on the permanent crew rota.
Mrs Boyd also worked on the Trolleybuses, and the Underground, before retiring in the early 1970's.
